Financial Controller at the Swedish Energy Agency

Your tasks – analyze, develop, and ensure effective financial management

In the role of financial controller, you will contribute to the development of the agency's financial management. Your main tasks include financial analysis, financial monitoring and reporting, development of key performance indicators, and internal development work. You will play a central role in coordinating and implementing financial management in accordance with the agency's new goal structure, which includes the development of processes for planning, monitoring, and reporting.

The role also involves providing support to one of the agency's departments regarding the budget process, forecasts, and analyzing the relationship between figures and operations, ensuring appropriate monitoring and reporting in accordance with the needs of the operations.

You will work independently and take your own initiatives while collaborating with other colleagues within the secretariat. You will also develop relevant key figures and indicators, prepare financial decision-making documents, and conduct oral or written presentations for the agency's various management groups. As a financial controller, you contribute to ensuring that management at various levels receives the decision-making materials needed to lead, manage, and develop the operations.

You will have many contacts both within the agency and with external parties.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements

  • Academic degree in a field that the Swedish Energy Agency considers relevant
  • Several years of relevant work experience in financial management from public operations.
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions even from limited or complex information.
  • Experience presenting financial analyses and decision-making documents to management groups
  • Fluent communication in Swedish, both spoken and written
  • Very good knowledge of the Office suite and the financial system Unit4/Agresso.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of analytical tools such as Power BI, QlikView, or equivalent systems.

To succeed in this role, you are meticulous and structured, with a good ability to see the big picture without losing focus on the details and able to reason from different perspectives. You are self-driven, careful to meet deadlines, and take responsibility for your work and its delivery. You are flexible and can easily adapt to changing conditions.

About the Workplace

The Planning and Budget Secretariat is part of the Swedish Energy Agency's staff and is led by the Chief Financial Officer. Here, 14 driven and engaged operational and financial controllers work who look forward to welcoming you to the secretariat. We focus on governance issues and coordinate contacts with the Government Offices and written governance from the government such as regulatory letters, assignments, and instructions. We work to ensure that the agency has effective environmental and energy management and coordinate the agency's monitoring and reporting through quarterly reports, annual reports, gender equality integration, and sustainability work. Additionally, we manage and develop the agency's leading and governing processes.

Good to Know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement. Positions within the Swedish Energy Agency may be placed in a security class, which means security screening and background checks according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act.
